The Draughn boys swimming team emerged victorious at a five-team meet held on Wednesday at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥â€™s Mountain View Aquatic Center.
The Wildcat boys (130 points) placed ahead of Brevard (116), East Burke (105), Patton (81) and Hendersonville (23). On the girls side, Brevard (177 points) led Hendersonville (129), Draughn (127), Patton (33) and East Burke (25).
The DHS boys’ event wins came from William Abernathy in the 100 butterfly (1:06.25) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.29); Tate Jensen in the 50 freestyle (24.42); and the 200 medley relay team of Abernathy, Jensen, Abdiel Gonzalez and Griffin Stephens (1:58.41).
The Cavalier boys earned event wins with Haiden Dale in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.23); Gage Allen in the 200 freestyle (2:23.92); and the 400 freestyle relay team of Taylor Lennex, Allen, Noah Ramsey and Dale (4:09.48).

The Panther boys’ lone event win came from Carter Phillips in the 500 freestyle (6:47.74).
The Lady Wildcats won with Ava Aldridge in the 100 backstroke (1:36.46) and Saylor Watson in the 500 freestyle (5:50.73).
WRESTLING
Draughn at East Henderson quad-match
The Wildcats won twice at Wednesday’s quad-match at East Henderson High School in East Flat Rock, beating Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference opponent Rosman 42-36 and nonconference foe A.C. Reynolds 42-36 while losing to the host Eagles 48-36.
Versus the Tigers, Draughn earned pins with Jayson Yang (113), Andres Garcia Lopez (150) and Connor Brinkley (215). Forfeit winners were Paxton Brown (120), Carson Murdock (138), Bryson Seagle (157) and Cain Martinez (285).
Against the Rockets, DHS’ pins came from Yang (113), Murdock (138), Seagle (157), Brinkley (215) and Martinez (285). Cayman Lewis (165) and Christian Ugalde (190) won on forfeits.
And versus East Henderson, Draughn won via pins with Yang (113), Garcia Lopez (150), Lewis (165) and Brinkley (215). Brown (120) and Seagle (157) won on forfeits.
Patton at Lincolnton quad-match
The Panthers were swept at Wednesday’s quad-match in Lincolnton, falling to Cherryville 54-24, the host Wolves 63-18 and South Caldwell 61-15.
Against the Ironmen, PHS earned pins with Cayden Marshall (138), Nicholas Parlier (157), Burke Wilson (165) and Brayan Romero (285).
Versus Lincolnton, Patton won on pins by Luke Parker (144), Parlier (157) and Wilson (165).
And against the Spartans, the Panthers got pins from Parker (144) and Cavan Sullivano (175) and a 10-8 decision win by Brady Christian (215).
Freedom at East Rutherford tri-match
The Patriots won once at Tuesday’s tri-match at East Rutherford High School in Bostic, topping the host Cavaliers 48-27 but falling to West Henderson 51-22.
Versus East Rutherford, FHS’ winners by pin included Christian Lawhon (126), Jameson Toner (138), Hunter Powell (175) and James Gonzalez Vasquez (215). Forfeit winners were Xander Vue (113), Enrique Gonzalez (150), Kayden Bowman (157) and Andrea Cisneros (190).
Against West Henderson, Freedom collected pins with Lawhon (126) and Alan Vicente Perez (190). Blake Miller (120) won an 8-0 major decision and both Vue (113) and Gonzalez (150) won on 1-0 decisions.
