Walmart Supercenter stores in Conover, Lenoir, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Taylorsville will be renovated. Supercenter stores in Hickory and Granite Falls were not on the list of stores scheduled for a remodel.

The company will reopen the Walmart Supercenter in Lenoir on May 2 at 9 a.m. The reopening celebration includes the presentation of $7,500 in grants to local organizations and the unveiling of a community-inspired mural, according to the press release.

Several Walmart Neighborhood Markets will be remodeled in the area.

Some of the updates include new signage, expanded departments, expanded online pickup and delivery and remodeling the pharmacy area, the release said.

“Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,� Annie Walker, senior vice president, East Business Unit at Walmart, said in the press release.

The company plans to remodel 41 stores in North Carolina this year.

• G120 ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Heights Blvd., ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥
• 935 Blowing Rock Blvd., Lenoir
• 901 N.C. Highway 16 S., Taylorsville

Walmart Neighborhood Markets:

• 483 U.S. Highway 70 SW, Hickory
• 2415 Springs Road NE, Hickory
• 1001 N. Green St., ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥
• 2794 Hickory Blvd., Hudson

According to Walmart, the company employees over 62,000 people in North Carolina across 220 locations.

Walmart is the largest employer in North Carolina, according to data from the N.C. Department of Commerce.

In 2023, Walmart was the fourth largest employer in Iredell County, seventh largest in Catawba County, ninth largest in McDowell County and 12th largest in Burke County.
