Tammy Duckworth Boone, 52, pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm into an occupied property and obstructing justice on Monday, May 19, according to information from the Burke County Courthouse. She’ll spend between four years, seven months and six years, six months in prison.
Boone was charged in connection with the shooting death of 41-year-old Brandi Deal in February 2023.
Deal was days away from giving birth to a baby girl when shots were fired into the trailer she shared with her boyfriend, Richard Buff. Deal was shot in the back and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Boone’s co-defendant, Dylan Rogers, was found guilty by a jury in April of second-degree murder and the murder of an unborn child, according to previous News Herald articles. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Assistant District Attorney Mitch Walker said the shooting is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement between Rogers and Buff. Buff wasn’t home at the time of the shooting.
