The Historic ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Festival Inc. is holding the 2025 M.A.D.E. (¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Arts Design and Engineering) Competition on Wednesday at the Collett Street Recreation Center in downtown ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., area middle and high school students will compete in an onsite design/build engineering challenge. The challenge will use problem-solving techniques, engineering, creativity and teamwork. Judging will begin at 4 p.m. but everyone is welcome to stop by and be amazed throughout the day.

MADE is an award-winning event produced by the Historic ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Festival Inc. and is one of the most successful collaborations between education and industry partners. It gives students a chance to experience STEAM-based activities that build skills relevant to many of the area industries. In addition to the excitement of the competition, spectators can visit sponsor vendor booths at the recreation center as well as enjoy food from food trucks on site, including Little Guatemala from 7 a.m.-10:30 a.m. and Pelican’s Snoballs at 12:45 p.m. The first 50 visitors to Little Guatemala get free coffee.
The competition is sponsored by Work in Burke, City of ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, Burke County, Leviton, Opportunity Threads, Case Farms, Western Piedmont Community College, KICKS 103.3 and NCSSM-¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ with support from Burke County Public Schools, TOSS, and the Historic ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Festival.
